The IH Rice Cooker - A Multipurpose Cooking Appliance
There has been a tremendous progress in the field of rice cookers since the first electric rice cookers were invented in the 1950s. These cookers were based on a simple design where electricity was used to heat the internal pan and the construction was such that the electricity was switched off the moment an optimal internal temperature was reached. Later the rice cookers with timer function appeared that made it possible to cook rice at the required time. This was followed by rice cookers that had micro computer chips that enabled optimum cooking of rice based on the quality and size of the rice. Recently, the IH rice cooker appeared that used the principle of induction heating technology. This cooker heats the whole inner cooking pan at a hot temperature and cooks excellent rice. As a result, this rice cooker is the most popular and the sale of this cooker is the highest amongst all the different kinds of rice cooker.
The inner pan of the IH rice cookers is made of nonstick coated aluminum with an outer lining of stainless steel. This pan is placed into the rice cooker and the unit is turned on to generate a magnetic field. The coils placed within the bottom of the rice cooker generate this magnetic field and through this the whole inner pan itself becomes a heat source. The entire cooking process is controlled by both high heat and finely tuned heat adjustments. Consequently the heat is evenly distributed throughout the pan and results in perfectly cooked rice.
However, there are different kinds of rice cookers available for both commercial and domestic use. Moreover, these cookers can be used for various purposes other than cooking rice. For example, some of these cookers are also steamers and come with steaming trays to steam fish, vegetables and other foods as well. Some of them are also adapted to cook various kinds of rice like mixed, sweet and porridge. Others also serve the function of rice warmers to keep the rice hot and tasty for many hours.
Thus IH rice cookers are brilliant not only at cooking rice but also at cooking vegetables, soups, desserts and even fish. The only requirement is to properly follow the directions given for the use of the equipment and the cooker can really serve a multipurpose function without any hassles. To add to the qualities of the cooker, some of the latest models are now available with one touch operation that makes it easy to use and also has condensation collector system that traps excess steam droplets and keeps the countertop dry. There are also chances of a new model of IH cookers coming up in the market under the name of the IH pressure rice cooker series. These cookers will use the high thermal conductive copper for the kettle and will be twice as expensive as their former counterparts. There are three major developments that have been put into the construction of this new series. First is the use of pure copper as the kettle adopted clad material, second is the application of IH adopted pressure boiling method and the third is the utilization of die-cast aluminum for the frame of the body. These cookers are expected to become huge sellers as soon as they hit the market.
